Billy's Story

Billy Cook batting
A well rounded individual whose life experience has shaped his identity.

Billy was born in Layton, Utah but moved away after a few months when his parents were stationed elsewhere. Growing up in an Air Force family, Billy lived in five states (Air Force Academy, CO; Wadsworth, OH; San Antonio, TX; Burke, VA; Monument, CO) until his parents retired in 2013 and settled in northern Colorado Springs. Moving around, the only true consistency was found in family and baseball. As a child who obsessed over baseball from a very young age, Billy played as much as possible, whether organized or just in the backyard. Before attending Pepperdine University on a baseball scholarship, he participated in Boy Scouts (yes, he is an Eagle Scout), Student Council, and other sports and activities at Lewis Palmer.

Billy played four years at Pepperdine and led the team in many categories over his career. After COVID-19 cut the 2020 season short, he returned for one more season and graduated with a BS in Finance. Following his 2021 season, Billy was selected in the 10th round of the MLB draft by the Baltimore Orioles. He played among top talent in the organization and played three seasons in the minor leagues, making it to AAA before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates. He debuted with the Pirates on September 8, 2024 and spent the rest of the season in the MLB. Since then, he has been up and down between AAA and MLB, accumulating a year of Major League Service time and counting.

The idea of Full Count Mentorship started in 2025 when Billy realized he had a lot more to offer in his offseason than simple hitting lessons. Many fans had younger children aspiring to be where Billy was, but had no real mentor or role model that could help other than their parents. Additionally, reliance on AI and the growth of social media influence had parents concerned about a lack of physical role models. Billy has always tried to make an impact on the younger generation, and this is his goal with Full Count. He hopes that through this mentorship, all participants will grow into a version of themselves that is confident and selfless, talented and humble. But it will not stop there, the goal is to develop all traits associated with those most successful in life's truly important measurements.

Baseball is Billy's career and passion, but Full Count reaches more than just on field performance. Billy's personal experience, combined with his network of various professionals and friends built over the years, has shaped him into the person he is today. He hopes to share and aid in shaping every participant in their own journey, on or off the field, and in a way that is individualized every time.
